Bell was the voice of the narrator in the drama for teenagers Gossip Girl, reprising the role in the sequel in 2021. Bell also appeared as Jeannie van der Hooven who played the female lead on the Showtime comedy series House of Lies. She starred as Eleanor Shellstrop in the NBC comedy series The Good Place. This performance led to her being nominated for an Golden Globe Award. Bell was also the lead character in the streaming series The Woman in the house Just across the street from The Girl in the Window.
